Save the trees

A few years ago someone went off the deep end about saving trees. They were part of a successfull campaign to stop logging a certain area in Oregon. What was completely missing from this activists limited mind was the understanding that every tree saved in America is simply a tree cut down in Canada. There are no trees saved. I work in the lumber industry and this is a topic I am familiar with. What the activist did accomplish was raise the price to build a home. Lumber at the time coming across the border was taxed at about 30%. The price to build a home rises and the trees are still cut. Who wins?

Moving on to global warming…. 35 years ago it was cooling. 10 years ago it was warming, now it is changing. Actually, the last 6 or so years the temperatures have remained flat or dropped a bit - the average American is convinced that the world is coming to end due to YOU driving to work. The global warming things started with an article by Lester Brown in the mid 90’s wherein he stated that researchers have determined that global warming is a real possibility. Lester Brown took 1 set of research findings that were not conclusive and through 3 separate articles excalated the topic from possible to extreme reality. All the mainstream liberal media outlooks exploited these 3 articles. Lester Brown took the one and only odd ball study and used it for the thrust of his argument. This odd ball study was purposefully ran to estimate ‘what if all the variables were maxed out’, i.e., what if the population is twice normal expected, everyone has 2 cars and everyone drives 100 miles to work, etc. This study threw bad results. This is the study that Lester Brown used and this is the basis from which the mainstream liberal media painted their politically correct bias.

I remember watching the UW channel 20 years where I learned how the local climate fluxuates on several cycles simultaneously. There is a 1500 year cycle and a 30 year cycle and right now we are 2/3’s or 3/4’s through the 1500 year cycle (dropping) and we are just starting into a 30 year cool down trend. It is true, we saw some warming 10 to 20 years ago. Now we are going to see cooling, despite anthing Algore says. We are going to see winter snow like we did 20 years ago.

The global warming thing is the biggest political farce I have seen in a long time. Just today Obama stated that Bush didn’t believe in global warming - yet Bush had taken measures to combat global warming - but you don’t know that because the liberal media covers it up. If Bush says it, it is a lie, If Obama says it, he is saving the world. Its all political and it is all garbage.
